Admittedly that is true, the image of homeschooling outside of the movement does tend to focus on the (perhaps most outspoken?) extremely religious sub-groups - though arguably, those parents do also believe they are doing what's right for their children?

There are many ways to homeschool though, and many reasons for choosing to do so. Some families choose a path that is remarkably similar to that you describe here, though without the future tech you've imagined.
