As a former dancer who has multiple chronic pain conditions, I have also found that ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) is by far the best thing I have come across in my decades of dealing with these issues.
I would guess that the ‘push through the pain' cultures of dance and gymnastics run roughly parallel, the pressure and competition must also surely be mirrored. So I think we are coming from a similar place in our backgrounds and share an ingrained, cultural resistance to working within our limitations! It really does make a massive difference though, I agree 100%.
