Joan of Arc was burned at the stake May 30th 1431.
550 years later, it was 1981 and eleven year old me was so heavily into stories of religious devotion, heroism and martyrdom that some people around me began to speculate (only partly in jest) that I should perhaps consider becoming a nun.
