Fascinating Alison. It's certainly true that Christianity engenders extremely pro or anti reactions. Like you, I'm not Christian (though I was raised CofE), but I have nothing against Christians - or Muslims, or any religion. It's extremism and hatred of others that angers and disgusts me, and dangerous extremists can be found originating in any religion (or none). I never understood how groups who have themselves experienced oppression are so likely to turn around and spew hatred at another minority group. I suppose it comes down to the same psychological root as bullied children bullying others. It's so important that people are encouraged towards measured, thoughtful exploration of religious texts, as you exhibit here. Thank you.
