Generally speaking I completely agree.

Usually, I wouldn't blink an eye at owt, but nowt seems to bother me more than this particular Americanisation. Well to be precise it's the extended 'burglarization' that does it. On a bad day my objections might even merit said flouncing off in high dudgeon. I think it's the juxtaposition of removing 'U's to simplify so many words, then whacking numerous extra unnecessary syllables onto others. Why that word though, I just don't know. It's my Achilles heel/.
