Yes, it’s a minefield working out how best to help others. Especially, as you say, in the current economic climate where those of us with little have now got even less. I still try to do what I can, but the pool of options is getting ever smaller.

Re the builders re-doing the girls’ work overnight. Yes it was to save face and feeling, but I think it was also to ensure the structure was safe and durable enough to be used. A performative holiday experience involving something the community needed — but the (re)builders would then need paying too!
