Hmm. Well, from homogenous identity, of belonging to the family, especially through the close relationship to the mother figure; to, at seven, beginning to have conscious, concrete thoughts and understanding of their 'separateness' and autonomy. The child begins to grow as an individual, it is the beginning, the first stage in a journey towards adulthood. I wouldn't say that at age seven the spirit, body or mind can be considered anywhere near adulthood yet. It's not a sudden transition.
