I first came across the concept of an audio book while in my teens (1980s), when my visually impaired grandfather used to have a subscription to a 'Books on Tape' service. Cassette tapes would arrive through the post monthly, and I would post the last one back after helping him fill out a form indicating his next choice for the month after.

Sounds archaic now doesn't it!
