I have this novel in my ever growing stacks of books waiting to be read and I’ve been looking forward to it too.

Your description here, alongside the reviews and publicity I’ve read, really evokes memories of William Burroughs’ work for me. Drug fuelled, sex infused, fever dream, basically.

I honestly find myself even more intrigued right now. I might just make ‘Black Leopard, Red Wolf' my next read — but I will probably feel less pressure to plow on if I’m struggling to find any enjoyment in this novel.

Your quitting will, I think make me feel more comfortable with doing the same if I feel so inclined.

So thanks for giving us a clear, detailed explanation of your opinion. That’s useful.
