I love this film!! Don't often see it mentioned. Shawshank is wonderful too.

I think all big name awards in any field of the arts tend to pander to best selling/popularity contests...but then 'mainstream' accolades give rise to counter culture, Indy productions and awards, which are always infinitely more interesting. What's 'Indy' then works it's way out into mainstream popular culture (like Rap!), leaving room for the next crop of fresh experimental talent.
