I don't know if you want opinion, but I think I would be tempted to leave it alone though, despite really understanding how awkward it is - so long as you are certain that your friendship isn't likely to develop beyond these in game chats? As you say, there are men out there who are absolute sweethearts. When I've been hurt badly (by men), it's mainly been my close male friends who have helped me get myself back together. I think it's quite nice that she is feeling that there is a possibility of that for her.
