I've been giving this subject a lot of thought recently. I love what you say here, good writing crafted by a human hand, mind and heart has character and soul of it's own - and that's what I want on my pubs.
I try to give as much editorial advice as possible, I'll give new writers a chance, but I'm also trying to weed out mechanical unoriginal writing if there'd no interaction or individual/personal touch. It's a hard balance to strike as an editor, I want to be supportive but quality will win out.
