Lovely piece, I can feel the closeness and regard you had for your ...Nan? My own grandmother was probably the biggest influence I had on my childhood. She died when I was 14 and I'm still grieving her loss.

I hadn't heard that phrase in a long time before you started this review series. I do remember my grandma saying it - which does lead me to believe it could well be biblical, but don't quote me on that!

I think of it as kind of like a variation on 'know thy enemy' - Sun Tzu: 'know thy enemy and know yourself' - The Art of War....which you probably knew, but hey, that's stream of consciousness comment writing for you ;D
