Mia, I’m sorry to hear you also have C-PTSD. You’re so right about not knowing where to start writing about it, I’ve definitely shared that problem too.

Yes, I’m told EMDR can be delivered utilising alternating tapping touch or alternating buzzing sounds via headphones. I certainly couldn’t deal with the latter at all, buzzers can really spike my anxiety — and depending on the day I might not want someone touching me either, as I’m guessing is the case with many people with these kinds of conditions. I suppose that’s why the alternatives aren’t that often used.

It sounds like an incredibly useful therapy, though I can see many people dismissing it as fluffy new age woo. I might have done so myself if the concept had been introduced to me elsewhere. I’m lucky in that when I eventually gave in and decided to see a therapist (I was stubbornly resistant for a very long time) I found one I liked and felt at ease with right away.
