My own experience (in the UK) was traumatic for a number of reasons and like you say, I felt I was expected to just get over it and get on with it. Someone (family member not medical professional) told me at one point that I wasn’t special, babies were born to everyone, all the time! There was so much sighing, eye rolling and brushing off from those close to me who I thought I could count on to care that I just struggled on in silence.
