People have been saying repeatedly, for decades now, that social class distinctions no longer exist in western culture. They're probably the same people who think we're 'post-racial' as well.

Class systems are alive and kicking, both in the US and the UK (and Europe), only the wilfully blind can deny it at this point in history. Nothing illustrates that quite as well as an economy driven housing crisis.

Over here it's starting to feel like the Conservative (right) ruined 1980s again - and our recent switch to a Labour (left) government doesn't seem to be helping so far.

I've said to you before I think MJ, I've always really fancied the idea of either van or tiny home life (but never done it for a couple of reasons, the main one being our combined health/disability issues) - but it's one thing to choose that lifestyle, knowing you can change to somewhere else at some point if you want/need to, and another to be forced into it with no other choice.

It's a crying shame to see people having to live in a car with their families, struggling to find somewhere to park up, unable to afford parking fees or petrol/gas, kids having to go into school from sleeping cramped, nowhere to wash or anything....

And that's another thing. We're going to end up having to open up communal bathhouses again.(As in baths/showers for the poor as opposed to communal pools or gay meeting places...) I know I've occasionally seen those converted coaches with showers for the homeless in the last couple of years (great idea by the way!).

Is this what they were wanting in the '70s/'80s when they constantly referred to going back to 'Victorian family values'? Seems like it.
