Radiohead are obviously more well known at home here in England. I love that song, thanks for writing about it Jeff. As for the 'borrowing' of musical riffs and the like, there's only a finite (a quite small) number of notes isn't there, at some point things are going to sound familiar, much as you might want to be wholly original. As you say, a musician or writer might be flattered at the homage rather than irritated and litigious.
