Thank you again James for bringing these issues here for us. Texas again. This is the most heinously hateful act of foul bigotry. I'm quite choked up, thinking about the kids who are going to suffer and the families who will lose their teens - perhaps for good, goodness knows suicide is always a lurking shadow for transgender youth, something like this has the potential to push someone over the edge. I imagine that, along with the possibility of being taken from their family and put in the state foster system, any treatment (hormones, blockers or otherwise) will be stopped? In the interim while legal proceedings take their inevitably lengthy course? To be given hormone treatments at 16/17 is as you say, the exception, and surely means that psychologists and gender specialists consider that mental health, quality of life etc. would be seriously impaired by not giving treatment so early. I just don't understand how, given the strength of legal stance against what Paxton has issued and Abbott backed up, their prejudiced opinions are able to be converted into actionable law in this way. And as ever, it'll be the families who already have it hardest that have even more shit heaped upon them now. Forgive me for this somewhat rambling diatribe, I'm simply incensed by this utterly callous act - particularly as it's wrapped up in a pretty presentation of caring for kids and wanting to save them from abusive families.
