A controversial topic for sure, because really, who decides what act, in what context is 'appropriate to show?
Many people would be shocked by, for example, the mention of the young woman's first period, while many families would think nothing of it - in fact there is a push towards making things like this acceptable to more people/communities.
Then, for another example, homosexual sex - unnecessarily distasteful? But what about heterosexual sex? That is EVERYWHERE.
Some would argue, that in depicting these details we are seeing life just as it is, 'warts and all' and that realism makes for good cinematography.
And lasty, certain things which are objected to as 'unsuitable for children', you'll probably find that those children don't 'see' it anyway. That's why things made for children can often be found with 'adult jokes' slipped in to liven viewing up for parents - when we watched as children that joke went right over our heads.
There will be so many different opinions on this. But it's an interesting thing to discuss!
