Thanks Niall, for this extremely well-written essay. Oh how familiar this all was. I nodded during most of it (not a huge fan of Jordan Peterson personally, but he does make a little sense now and again). I suffered under the same delusions that being 'nice' was the same as being a doormat - and yes, over-correcting genuinely is something we need to be OK about, because you're learning the balance.
