Thanks Will, for the hugs (welcomed and needed) and the encouragement you gave me to publish this. I am glad I did, though I then needed a couple of days to collect myself before I could respond to comments.

This is something that I've only recently started talking about, even though it happened a lifetime ago when I was at university. Much like this poem, my silence has not meant that the memory lay dormant, it has been a restlessly lurking section of my psyche that has refused to be pushed aside.
