This is an interesting read Annika. I've never seen 'The Gilmore Girls' (though who could avoid hearing about it?), but your theory would certainly seem to explain a few things. On the other hand, there are also a load of independent, 'oddball' 'misfits' out there who can't seem to fit in (or don't want to) and love books to distraction....who AREN'T autistic/neurodivergent, too.
